len The Dutch team is the European Championships in Budapest started fine. In the morning, and 8 and starts at less than 7 meant this result a (semi) finals. Only Robin Aggele knew the semifinals of the 100m breaststroke failing to meet. With 1.1.86, he remained less than half a second over his Jaked time in 2009, an excellent performance so, but unfortunately it was not worth more than a 21st place. The other swimmers and swimmers reached the finals are:

Hinkelien Schreuder - 50vl - 26.64 (PR 25.94) - 6th
Bastiaan Lijesen - PR 100ru 55.01 (was 55.50) - 12th
Nick Driebergen - 100ru 54.66 (NR 53.78) - 6th
Lennart Stekelenburg - 100ss - 01/01/29 (NR 59.50) - 5th
Sharon Rouwendaal - 200ru - 2.12.54 PR (was 12/02/68) - 6th - NR 17-year-old
Joeri Verlinden - 50vl - PR 23.90 (was 23.95) - 6th
4x100vrij ladies - 3.40.19 - 2e (Saskia de Jong 55.91 - Ilse Dykes 55.57 - Elise Bouwens 55.25 - Femke Heemskerk 53.46)

The afternoon began with the 400m freestyle in the men won by the French sensation Yannick Angel. This talent at what the European youth championships even though multiple gold medals managed to get, knew the world record holder Paul Biedermann of Germany behind him to keep. Yannick finished in 3.46.17, for Biedermann was 3.46.30. His world record of 3.40.07 at the World Championships in Rome, swam in a super suit.

In the first issue of the women appeared Hinkelien Schreuder for the 2nd time today at the start. After 26.64 this morning they came to 26.36, good enough as 5th in the finals tomorrow night to go. It affects them as often Therese Alshammer 25.50 with the fastest time set.

On the men's 100m backstroke in the Netherlands was represented by 2 men, Nick Driebergen and Bastiaan Lijesen . Nick did what was expected of him and placed himself in 5th with 54.34 for the final. The reaction of Nick on Twitter about this: "Yeahh 100 back was very nice! 54.34! As the fifth to finish. Anything is possible?! Now rest, rest .... I want it so badly ... ".
For Bastiaan was the semifinal the end station, but he pulled it back 54.79 thick 2 tenths of his personal record and finished neatly as 10e.

No Dutch participation in the 400m medley with the ladies. Gold was there for Hannah Miley in 4.33.09, followed by Katinka Hosszu (4.36.43) and Zsuzsanna Jakabos (4.37.92).

After a neat morning 01/01/29, Lennart did a little further this afternoon to improve to 1.00.71. And with that he placed himself in 4th for the final tomorrow night. Alexander Dale Oen was in a class with a championship record of 59.29, the rest of the field is close to one another. Hugues Duboscq is 2nd with 1.00.54, 1.00.55 with Daniel Gyurta. Lennart thus follows in 4th, just before Fabio Scozolli with 1.00.72

Also Sharon Rouwendaal qualified for the finals, the 200m backstroke. With 2.12.37, she was slightly faster than in the morning and so there was another Dutch record 17-year-old to report. The final field tomorrow during 2.10.56 to 2.12.82.

After his PR of the series knew Joeri Verlinden those 2 letters tonight to change in NR. By 23.66 he was 2 hundredths faster than Joris Keizer in 2003 and so was his good time for a new Dutch record. George swam in 2003 at the Mare Nostrum in Monaco at 23.68. With his time placed himself as Yuri 5e for the finals, where Rafael Munoz Perez of 23.15 in lane 4 will start. To get to the finals was 23.90 required.

In the morning, the Dutch quartet in the 4x100m freestyle ladies until the 2nd time in 3.40.19. Obviously, the team was handicapped by the absence of strong but less than 3 of the 4-strong in recent years. Thus there was no possibility to continue to exchange swimmers after the series appeared this afternoon and so again Saskia de Jonge , Ilse Dykes , Elise Bouwens and Femke Heemskerk at the start. 3.39.47 In the afternoon they were a bit faster than in the series, but beyond a 6th place they did not. Incidentally, the difference in winner Germany only 1.75 seconds, but that team was missing therefore only 'but' Britta Steffen. The split of our ladies:

Saskia de Jonge - 0.77 - 26.98 - 56.60 (29.62)
Ilse Dykes - 0.28 - 25.81 - 55.05 (29.24)
Elise Bouwens - 0.30 - 26.42 - 54.89 (28.47)
Femke Heemskerk - 0.20 - 25.51 - 52.93 (27.42)

The time of Saskia was a bit slower than in the morning, that of the other 3 ladies faster than in the series. The split of Femke was the fastest of the entire field, closely followed by Francesca Halsall 5305 (over 0.30). In Femke's own words: "Unfortunately the relay, but very happy with my split! 100vrij Tomorrow! "

The title in the men's 4x100m freestyle was for Russia. With 3.12.46 they were a small seconds fast than France, Sweden took the bronze with 3.15.07. The strength of Russia was primarily the balance of the team, with Lagunov (48.23), Grechin (48.38), Lobintsev (47.98) and Isotov (47.87).
