Lieke Verouden

Lieke Verouden

On Friday she had a Dutch record swim in the 200m medley and so today there was also an attack expected from Lieke Verouden on the Dutch record in the 400m medley. Since April 2008, that record of 4.48.19 Sharon Rouwendaal , just around the time that the Dutch swimming world Sharon met. The distribution of the race of Sharon in Dunkirk in 2008 was: 01/05/87 on the butterfly, the backstroke in 1.10.53, 1.26.03 and 01.05.76 on the breaststroke in the freestyle.

Lieke Verouden on 1st 200m was then taken by Rieneke Terink, after one second into the lead at 200m with 2.21.09 Lieke, but it already had about 5 seconds behind the schedule of Sharon. Lieke following with 2.22.14 (Sharon 2/16/40). On the breaststroke Lieke took the reins and swam away from Rieneke and went hunting for the schedule of Sharon. After 300m returned Lieke in 3.41.62 and thus had a small head start on the record schedule (Sharon 3.42.43). In the last 100m Lieke then did everything possible to defend that lead, but in the final meters she still had her acknowledge the superiority of the old record and finished in 4.48.49. A championship record, but just above the 0.30 NO.

The schematics of the 2 ladies next to each other:
Sharon (2008): 31.23 - 34.64 (05/01/87) - 35.91 - 34.62 (01/10/53) - 42.76 - 43.27 (01/26/03) - 33.63 - 32.13 (05.01.76).
Lieke (2010): 29.75 - 35.26 (01/05/01) - 39.10 - 38.03 (01/17/13) - 39.01 - 40.47 (19/01/48) - 33.83 - 33.04 (06.01.87).
(Note: In the following recording is the speaker of a wrong plan of the old Dutch record of Sharon. Thanks to an observant reader)

The last final session began with a display of on hold by Sebastiaan Verschuren . He took the 100m freestyle his 5th title of the tournament (later followed by the number 6 on the 4x100m medley relay). After the 400m on Friday and the super strong 200m from Saturday (2nd time in Europe and 5th time in the world of 2010!) And the victories in the freestyle relays, he came to 49.39 in the 100m freestyle. Behind him finite Joeri Verlinden 2nd place in 51.03 and Stefan de Die at position 3 in 51.19.

In the women there was another title for Femke Heemskerk . Also they dominated from start to finish and clocked 54.28. To draw a comparison with the rest of Europe: Fran Halsall won today at the Mare Nostrum tour the 100m freestyle in 54.94. Places 2 and 3 in the race today in Eindhoven were Ilse Dykes in 55.47 and Elise Bouwens in 56.61 (known time in 2000, although in the butterfly ...)

In the 100m backstroke in the men won as expected Nick Driebergen the title, but this time he was there really for swimming. On the first 50m was Jurjen Willemsen brutally took the lead in 27.12, 27.15 for Nick. Thanks to a strong underwater phase after the turning point was on the 2nd 50m Nick still the race to put his hand and aantikte in 55.52, a small seconds for Jurjen (56.35) and 2.5 for Joey de Ruijter (58.07). It was Joey with his hands still squeezing the bronze, because the race had been more than 1 stroke was the winner in the youth Sverre Eschweiler overtaken him. Who finished in 58.07, just above the time series of 58.02, but again below the target time of 58.16 Youth Championships. He may thus to Helsinki to be there to compete with the rest of European youth.

Yesterday tried Femke Heemskerk as the start of the 4x100m medley relay swimmer to make an attack on her own Dutch record of 01.01.28. With 1.1.92 they did not succeed in today and she focused entirely on the 100m freestyle. By its absence and that of Hinkelien Schreuder there was no one present in the final battle that really could go with Wendy vd Zanden, who then simply took the victory in 1.2.63. A reasonably good time for Wendy wanted she still want to go a little harder, especially because in the series already had come to 01/02/69. Mariet Koster was 2nd in 3.1.47, for Evy Witlox in 3.1.78.

In the 50m breaststroke at the gentlemen in the series have no Alexander Dale Oen, so a Dutch discussion between the two fastest breaststroke sprinters we have, Lennart Stekelenburg and Robin van Aggele . This time, however, Lennart left no doubt signed off and he won in 28.51, for Robin in 28.76. Place 3 was shared by Rudy Ted de Haan and Bram Dekker . Both men came to 29.46, where Bram satisfied with it, Ted Rudy little less. Seat 5 was occupied by the youth fastest swimmer, Roy Smeenge . He equaled his time of 29.52 in the series, but did so again just above the EJK target time of 29.32. Fortunately, he decided to coach Junior / Youth Men Titus later for him to take it to Helsinki.

Maybe not with the force before they ever showed, but again the fastest: Monique Nijhuis . In the 50m breaststroke in 32.26 for her ladies came on the clock, which they Anouk Elzerman 6 tenths behind him was (32.87). The bronze went to Amsterdam in 32.92 and was Lona Kroese.

The 50m butterfly went to Joeri Verlinden 24.36 which was a class apart. Marc Kremer Trivia won silver in 24.94, for his fellow club Jeroen Stuut in 25.24.

A trip to the 50m butterfly did Ranomi Kromowidjojo another title, this time in 2625. Kelly Young was the proper distance to pick up silver in 28.11, for Willemijn Knot in 28.30. For Kira Toussaint was no all-in coin, but the winner in the youth came into the series up to 28.31 and that was enough for the target time for the European Youth Championships. It stood at 28.36.

On the longest distance, the 1500m freestyle, this time no Job Kienhuis and thus clearing the way for Arjen vd Meulen. By 15.42.36 he was indeed the champion, for Davy Verreussel in the morning in the slow series had swum to 16.07.50. Mark Moussa came in the fastest heat in the afternoon until 16.23.18, good for bronze. When youth ventured Ferry Weertman an ultimate attempt to EJK to catch up on the 800m freestyle, but that was clearly too ambitious. Eventually he had to sprint to Niek Pereboom to stay, but that did work: 16.29.29 to 16.30.02.

The final relay events yielded gold for the 6th Sebastiaan Verschuren and the second gold of the day for Wendy vd Zanden on. Sebastian did on the last 50m of the 4x100m medley Rutger van Oosterhout to figure out, while Wendy as final swimmer of the 4x200m freestyle a little easier to victory could swim. They dived in with 1.5 seconds ahead of AZ & PC and knew that margin neatly to save.
