Duel In The Pool In many countries around this time Short Course swimming championships. That combined with the Duel in the Pool, the 2 battle between America and a team from Europe and you have a weekend where some records are still firmly killed. Mr. Thoman clocked times relay with 48.94 in 100 back, a new WR, just below the record of shared Vyachanin Donets and the Short Course Championships (48.97). Julia Smit also introduced a new top time in the 400m medley (4.21.04), while Rebecca Soni in the 200m breaststroke in 2.14.57 Leisel Jones took out the books.

Brazilian Cesar Cielo, who was in the 50m freestyle world record of 0.03, Frederick Bousquet improved. The new standard is now at 20.91.
