Monique Nijhuis European Champion! (Video)
Joeri Verlinden know in a new Dutch record of 49.86 and third place for the final of the 100m butterfly. Only Peter Mankoc (49.62) and Ivan Lendjer (49.67) were slightly faster in the semi-finals, world record holder Evgeny Korotyshkin and Nikolay Skvortsov were 49.94 and 49.97, just slower than Verlinden. With his record was the first Dutchman Verlinden directly on the 100m butterfly in the 50 seconds was able to swim, the No. 2 ranking is the eternal Emperor George with 51.77 in 2001.
After Yuri knew Robin Aggelen themselves for a final and the 100m breaststroke it. In the series he had already tightened the Dutch record, tonight it was even harder to 57.50. That time was in the semifinals for a good fifth place and thus the final tomorrow night. Robin If it manages to bring something more in the second 50m (50m in the first, he was the fastest of the entire field), there beckons a podium. Number 3 of the semi-finals with Fabio Scozzoli 57.42. Daniel Gyurta sharpened his European record of the morning a little further to 56.79 and was therefore in the semifinals a class by itself. Hunor degree from Austria, the number 10 of the semi-final and may still be 57.91 tomorrow at the start of the finals, for Henry Feldwehr fell 57.93 just the canvas.
In the 100m freestyle was an absolute great time to record for Ranomi Kromowidjojo. They finished in 51.54 over 3 tenths of Inge Dekker and was the fastest in the semifinals. Inge was No. 2 at 51.86, 52.03 Jeanette Ottesen was the number 3. By that time of 51.54 improved Ranomi also the Dutch record of Marleen Veldhuis , who swam in the 2008 Short Course NK Amsterdam to the old top time of 51.74. Inge Dekker remained with her time just above her PR 0.01 in the morning. Detail in the story is that Ranomi in its familiar LZR while Inge started in Arena swim. For reference: Lisbeth Trickett swam the world record of 51.01 in a LZR.
Incidentally, the name of Ranomi a problem for speakers and commentators, though of course you like creative problem Sebastiaan Verschuren managed to let the speaker at the European Championships: http://yfrog.us/j3gndz
4x50m medley knew the gentlemen were a number of places to improve, unfortunately, remained a medal out of reach. With 1.32.94 they were finally on the 5th, at 0.81 seconds from the bronze of France. The gold went to the Russian team after a world record in the series now also swam a world record in the final with 1:31.80. Just behind the Russians was the German team that claimed silver in 1:32.02. Unfortunately for Germany, despite the acquisition of 0.05 (!) Slot swimmer Stefan Herbst no match for Sergey Fesikov. Herbst clocked 20.83, Fesikov came to 20.49. Only the final swimmer and world record holder swimmer Amaury Levaux was like closing the French team with 20.46 just a bit faster. He gave it the French team therefore place 5 to the bronze, with Italy Filippo Magnini was therefore 0.04 seconds on the stage.
For Nick Driebergen meant the 23.63 that he starts swimmer could drop also a new Dutch record. Robin Aggelen was then 25.49 for the second-fastest breaststroke split, and Joeri Verlinden (22.50) and Bastiaan Tamminga (21.32) for Netherlands completers. The end time of the men was a Dutch record.
On the remaining numbers of the evening unfortunately not Dutch participation but a number of remarkable times. In the 400m freestyle was not entirely unexpected Paul Biedermann who have equally benefited from its fast swimsuit and in the last 150m made the difference with Nikita Lobintsev: 3:34.55 against 3:35.75.
After the elimination of world record holder Arkady Vyatchanin in the heats of the 200m backstroke, was the way for his countrymen Evgeny Aleshin Stanislav Donets and in order to seize power. Donets did well on this task was already on a faster time than the winning 1:48.62 hoped. Aleshin had to settle for the bronze in 1:49.31 after Radoslaw Kawecki him in the last 50m still managed to catch up with 1:49.13 for the silver and signed.
The semi-final of the 100m backstroke at the ladies was won by Russian Ksenia Moskvina 56.74 with a new championship record of 56.98 with Aleksandra Herasimenya. Moskvina since the World Cup in Russia, the European record of 56.66 held, so probably it is even harder tomorrow. For a world record since the World Cup in Berlin 55.23 required for the final was 58.63 today.
At the 200m medley was a new World Record for Evelyn Verraszto fat from Hungary. On 6 November she had been the record improved to 6.2.01, now in the final she came to a new top time of 02.04.64. Compared to her race in November, especially the backstroke and freestyle a lot faster, resulting in the new record. Number 2 was Francesca Segat to 06/02/21, thanks to Hannah Miley took a very strong second 100m bronze in 02.06.96. The swimmer in late November may be admired at the Swimcup in Eindhoven was ninth after the butterfly, the back after the seventh, after school and after the fourth was free so they are good for the bronze medal.
In the 200m butterfly world record or a new European, with Aurore Mongel 03/02/22 swam only a championship record. It seems therefore that the 2 minutes limit, where Liu Zige in Berlin 2.00.78 still very close came, will stand in 2009 and is probably still many years after 2009. Petra Granlund of Sweden was today 03/02/82 the number 2, Franziska Hantke grabbed by 02/04/68. The 200m butterfly often made in the last 50m decided Micah Oestergaard from Denmark showed yet again, they returned at 50, 100 and 150m first, but was only fourth finally 02/05/31.

The 200m medley title in the men went to Austria in the name of Markus Rogan. He improved the European record of 1.51.72 with Laszlo Cseh with thick one second. Rogan, who has announced to quit, is best known for the backstroke and then he knew too much of the delays on the butterfly to make. In the breaststroke, he knew his position and also some improvement in the clearance, he and No. 2 Vytautas Janusaitis the fastest. Both men swam the front crawl 2 jobs at the same time of 26.94, the rest of the field did not fall under the 27seconden swimming. Laszlo was after back but was still the No. 1 in the second half of the race a lot and was eventually admitted to 1.54.31 only seventh.
In the 50m clearance was mainly the fireworks of French men expected and that was partly true. Frederick Bousquet won the 50m freestyle in 20.53, just above the European record of his compatriot Amaury Leveaux of 20.48. Drag Duje Anja took the silver with 20.70, 20.84 with Sergey Fesikov. Amaury noted with 20.87 and a slightly disappointing fourth place.
