Duel In The Pool On the 2nd day of the Duel in the Pool in Manchester are 3 world records broken. In the 100m breaststroke was after a world record in the 200m breaststroke world record today at half the distance for Rebecca Soni. After an opening 0.03 above the split of Leise Jones, Soni swam on the 2nd 50m over 3 tenths faster and so she set the world on an incredible 02.01.70. This performance was followed moments later by Julia Smit with a world record in the 200m medley. Yesterday she broke the world record in the 400wissel already, today, she set the 200m at 02.04.60, just below the 04/02/64 Evelyn Verraszto. A comparison of the intervals:
Smit: 27.22, 58.60 (31.38) 1:34.54 (35.94) 2:04.60 (30.06)
Verraszto: 27.56, 58.78 (31.22) 1:35.92 (37.14) 2:04.64 (28.72)
The 3rd and final world record came in the name of the 4x100vrij gentlemen. Adrian (45.08), Grevers (44.68), Garrett Weber-Gale (47.43) and Phelps (46.11) finished in 3:03.30. Thus they got thick 1.5 seconds off the record of France from 2008. Then came Gregory Mallet (47.41), Fabien Gilot (44.92), William Meynard (47.65) and Fred Bousquet (45.00) to 3:04.98.
