Weblog Ranomi : Sharks and Whales
In my previous blog I wrote about the World Cup in Durban, South Africa. Last I heard that Durban's most dangerous destination in the world.
Not really so reassuring to put a match to swim, but crime I fortunately noticed nothing, really a bargain! And the city was not the only dangerous thing me had fallen. Because after two days of swimming competition - which also went very well: I was the first and third in 100 respectively. 50m free - we went with a group of swimmers swim with sharks. Not in a cage or a bath, but with a boat on the open sea.
Just before the sharks came, we saw a whale with baby from the water jump, incredibly cool! But when I saw shark fins out of the water stabbing, such a picture you always see in films, I began hesitation to jump into the water. Anyway, I always say this: there is nothing scarier than an Olympic swimming final. So later I was with my snorkel and flippers between all wild sharks, I've even touched! What an experience. I always thought that sharks prefer to eat people, but that is absolutely not true. So besides a very successful World Cup, I also learned some thing and seen. Two birds with one stone!
